Photo: Old frames before restoration

October 2005
Favourite, the last Oyster Yawl remaining in Whitstable, had been beached since 1943 and the wind and rain had caused a great deal of damage. From the outside her hull looked complete, but this photograph shows that much of the bottom planking and frames had rotted away, despite the efforts of volunteers over the years. Where water could not soak in, frames and planks had remained sound and were incorporated into the rebuilt hull.
