Favourite’s reconstruction took place on the beach beside Island Wall. Favourite’s current site is 400 yards (360m) along the shore from the site of the Whitstable Shipping Company where she was built in 1890 (now Daniel’s Court).
Originally, most fishing boats were built on a convenient area of beach near one of the shipyards. Building took place directly on the shingle, starting with the keel. On the keel were erected the stem and sternpost and the frames. Lastly the planking was fitted.
