Supported
by the Heritage Lottery Fund, we have commissioned colourful information
panels on oyster fishing and shipbuilding for the site from John
and Tom Cann who comprise the local design and print firm Visualize.
Apart from being a superb artist, John owned the smack William
and has dredged for oysters.
Visualize
has also assisted in the production of the free leaflet that is
available from Whitstable Museum, the WIT and the Horsebridge Centre.
The leaflet
gives a summary of the Favourite, oyster dredging and shipbuilding
in Whitstable.
Within a few
weeks we will publish a new leaflet. This will explain how Favourite
sailed, dredged for oysters, anchored etc. This will be a priced
publication, with proceeds going to the Favourite Trust.
For a free leaflet, please send an A4 stamped, self-addressed
envelope to: The
Secretary, Favourite Trust, 22 Island Wall, Whitstable, Kent CT5
