Each
frame comprises a floor, which crosses the keel, and futtocks which
complete the frame up to the sheer line. Our modern shipwright would
have preferred to cut the futtocks in a single piece, as he had
good lengths of curved oak available. However he was asked to follow
Favourite’s original build using multiple short futtocks where
possible. Some frames are doubled for most of their length to give
added strength.
